For delegates who will travel by car to Aachen we offer parking tickets for the Parking Zone close to the conference venue. For € 9 per day you are permitted to park within the Parking Zone U. We recommend the RWTH Car Park, which is only a 5 minutes walk from the C.A.R.L. building. Should you wish to book parking tickets, please contact Judith Fränken at RWTH University.
Please be advised that parking tickets can be purchased through us until the 2nd of August 2019.
RENT A BIKE
Delegates can rent a bicycle throughout the conference via Swapfiets (please note that the contingent of bikes is limited). For a fixed fee of 17,50€ (15€ for students) delegates will be provided with a bicycle for the whole week. The bicycle can either be picked up at the shop close to the conference venue or be brought to a desired address in Aachen. Since Swapfiets regularly rents bicycles for at least a month, delegates will have to sign a contract for one month, which can be terminated immediately. If you are interested in renting a bike, please register via following link. Please enter the address where you will be staying during the conference and type “EARLI” in the comment box. Please be aware of that Swapfiets does not rent bicycle helmets.
COFFEE AND LUNCHES
Coffee and refreshments will be available throughout the conference programme, allowing you to catch up with colleagues for a drink at any time of the day!
Lunches are served flexibly between 11:15 and 14:30 in the university Mensa, just a short walk from the C.A.R.L. building (Pontwall 3).
A limited amount of portable lunch bags (with sandwich, fruit and candy bars) will be available from 11:00 at the C.A.R.L. cafetaria every day at a first come, first serve basis.

The Gala Dinner will be held on Friday the 16th of August to mark the festive end of the conference.
Places for the dinner are limited, so make sure to purchase your ticket when registering for EARLI 2019. Admittance will only be offered to delegates who purchased a dinner ticket beforehand.
In a change to previous EARLI conferences, we offer an open afterparty for all delegates, on Friday (August 16th - 22:30)! The EARLI 2019 afterparty gives all delegates the opportunity to join the informal part of the evening. No admittance fee, you will only have to pay for your drinks. The afterparty will take place at the Pontstrasse 72 – only a three minutes walk from the Coronation Hall. If you would like to attend the party, you can already add your three favourite party tracks to the Spotify EARLI 2019 Afterparty Megamix . We are looking forward to a great party!
Childcare facilities will be available at a small fee. Childcare is offered during the conference sessions from 8:30 until 19:30 at a fee of maximum 10€/hour/child.
Delegates should write an email with the subject “EARLI conference 2019” to firstname.lastname@example.org and provide them with more information. Additional information about the child care schedule and bookings will be provided by the family service. Deadline: July 14th.
After the deadline, those who would like to use this service will be contacted for further details about the payment.
Only 500 metres from the C.A.R.L. building, the Königshügel (kings hill) is located. Around the natural grass pitch of the stadium there is a 400-metre ash track which can be used freely. Right next to the ash track you can find a path (Finnbahn) which consists of a mineral base layer, an intermediate layer of sand and a top layer of wood chips. It has a specific system with drainage adapted to the soil conditions. The total length of the section is 1,150 metres. At the edge of the ash track, two outdoor fitness facilities (Fitness 1, Fitness 2) can be used which are equipped with a calisthenics station and approximately 100 square meters of fall protection mats.
Aachen is ideally located at the point where three countries – Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands – meet, it enchants visitors time and again. Visit its monuments and squares, stroll through its narrow, winding lanes, and enjoy the flair of the westernmost major city in Germany.
